Congratulations to Representative Allen Vaught

Allen Vaught must be thanking Barack Obama today, because he pulled it off and gets 2 more years representing… uh… well, I guess we’ll see who he decides he’s representing, won’t we? Allen Vaught didn’t accept his win with a “good game” or “nice race” – instead he graciously told his opponent, Bill Keffer, that he needed to “lick his wounds”.

As always, this District 107 mom is looking to improve those neighborhood schools – all of them – to the point that families are able to trust that their children are safe. To the point that families of special needs children are able to quit considering a move out of Texas and are able to trust that their school district is acting in the best interest of the child. By now I’m sure Representative Vaught is well aware that there are special needs families throughout district 107 who have no way of accessing a free and appropriate public education for their children. Remember, the wonderful Texas Virtual Academy only works for families who have someone available to act as the child’s learning coach.

A little about our state representative: Allen Vaught moved to an east Dallas district 107 neighborhood from Irving. He moved into one of the houses commonly referred to as “McMansions” and started a family. He has 2 young children who are not yet old enough to attend a DISD neighborhood school. Representative Vaught clearly is heavily invested in our community.

Allen Vaught has another shot at representing ___________ in Austin and to make big things happen for our neighborhood schools – ALL OF THEM. So let’s sit back and see what happens. I’ll do my part to keep you updated.

Sincerely,
Unworthy Bum

  1. Well, whatever you do, make sure you delicately present your needs to Mr. Vaught. And always with a nice sprinkling of sugar on top.

Jr. Rep Vaught, whose cronies defend his record of inaction with the excuse that he’s too new to his position in Texas politics to have done anything for District 107, or flat out maintain that he’s just not responsible for quality of life issues in his district (what do state reps do again?) does not respond favorably to demands of any kind. He’s a rather delicate wound-licking puppy (purple heart war veteran and all,) and he’ll call the shots while ducking for cover, thank you very much.

  2. This is actually very good advice, pretty please.

Did you know that in order to run for state representative, you must first establish residency in the district? You do that by residing in the district for at least 1 year. I believe Allen Vaught filed/announced his candidacy 1 year and maybe 3 days after moving to a district 107 McMansion.

The Texas Parent PAC, Allen Vaught’s major funder, was itching to take this district.

Maybe the timing was just right.

I’ve been in east Dallas a long time, though, and I don’t meet too many Parent PAC people hanging out at the Gold Rush. Don’t think that type ever hung out at the Sunshine/Rainbow dude’s place buying beads and ponchos. I wonder if Roxy Gordon or Peaches or Bump ever ran into the Texas Parent PAC around the neighborhood.

Ah well, Rep. Vaught gets to show us the proof in the pudding this session. I can’t wait!

  3. UB,

Thanks for all that you are doing! I’m learning a great deal from your blog.

To the poster that was questioning UB’s time management….shut your pie hole! WTF do you know? It would be nice to stay at home and do nothing about the situation but that’s not a luxury afforded to parents with special needs children. Our kids are only getting older and getting further left behind everyday. We need options!

    UB, keep up the fight!

  4. Allen Vaught is asked a question from a woman. He tells her that the state of Texas does not have the money to send her autistic child to a special school, and she would have to talk to the DISD. Do you think that Allen hates autistic children, you DUMMY? Mr. Vaught told her that the state could did not have the money, he didn’t lie to her or make an empty promise he told her the truth and told her who to go to for the help. People bitch about politicians, but politicians are exactly how people want them to be.

So now Bill Keffer runs an ad saying that Allen Vaught “says: NO, your autistic child can not go to school.”

“Nowhere in the ad is a vote on a specific bill mentioned. Mr. Keffer, in an interview, cited a bill proposed by state Sen. Florence Shapiro, R-Plano, that would have created funding for such schools using property tax money.

But the senator’s bill never had a companion that Mr. Vaught, the Democratic incumbent, could have voted for in the House.” -Dallas Morning News

Allen Vaught is a great man who has done so much for this country and for this area. Maybe that is why he is a hero and a man of power and respect, and you are a whiny do nothing bitch.

“Bill Keffer is a two time loser and you are probably the bitch from his stupid commercial. Allen Vaught rules!.”- Theodore Roosevelt

  5. dsting, looks like your log-in got cut off. There’s an isgu missing after the “d.”
